Mr. Ray Guzman is a C-suite executive, independent board member, and advisor with over 25 years of expertise in leveraging technology and strategy to drive business transformation. His experience spans early-stage startups to Fortune 100 companies, bringing a comprehensive understanding of how innovation can serve as a strategic lever for growth. Ray’s boardroom contributions are rooted in his ability to navigate complex business landscapes, offering critical insights that bridge immediate execution with long-term vision. His principled approach is grounded in his experience as a U.S. Army veteran where he developed his leadership skills and acumen for innovation and technology. As a technology executive, he was at the forefront of embracing AI in its nascent stages and understands the challenges and implications of AI at companies and in the boardroom. Ray’s diverse experience includes executive roles at Microsoft and the successful growth and exits of multiple ventures, underscoring his ability to create value at every business stage
Board Experience
He currently serves on the board of Ascend Federal Credit Union, the largest credit union in middle Tennessee with approximately $5B in assets. At Ascend, Ray established an AI governance committee and his work in AI Board Governance was featured in an interview with Odgers Berndtson which highlighted the need for directors to maintain oversight over AI applications without hindering management’s ability to compete in a market where AI is rapidly becoming a competitive differentiator. Ray also serves on the board of trustees of Belmont University, a Nashville, TN based university with an annual budget of $500m, total assets of over $1.3 billion, and nearly 9,000 students.
Additionally, he serves on the board of advisors for Montecito Medical, one of the nation’s largest privately held companies specializing in the development of medical real estate properties with a portfolio valued at more than $5.1 billion. Previously, he served on the boards of The Nashville Health Care Council, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, the Center for Nonprofit Management, and multiple advisory and fiduciary boards with technology companies. Ray’s board experience also includes serving as chairman across six organizations, vice-chairman, or chair/ member of various governance, investment, finance, or strategic planning committees.
Professional Experience
Currently the CEO of SwitchPoint Ventures, Ray has successfully orchestrated the company’s growth from a bootstrapped startup to an entity that has created over $100 million in enterprise value. Since its inception in 2018, the studio has achieved three successful exits within six years, including Scout (5x return), Polaris (8x return), and Winnow (23x return) which was acquired by Aya Healthcare—the largest healthcare talent software and staffing company in the United States.
Before SwitchPoint, Ray was Chairman and CEO of WPC Healthcare, where he led a turnaround, transitioned the company to a SaaS data science platform, and facilitated its sale to Intermedix (4x return), later acquired by R1 RCM (NASDAQ: RCM)
for $460 million.
Personal
Ray and his wife of 29 years, Nakisha, reside in Franklin, Tennessee with their five daughters. They love to travel, having visited 12 countries and four continents with a goal of visiting all seven continents together.
