Growing up in a family that listened to every genre, from soul/funk to jazz/blues to country and hip hop, my music education started young and for as long as I can remember being a part of the music industry has been a dream of mine. Although my career started in sports radio, another passion of mine, I knew that one day I would find a way to contribute to the industry and community that I revere. While in college and during my first radio gig in sports, I created and hosted a classic hip-hop radio show called “Can I Kick It” an ode to one of my favorite groups A Tribe Called Quest. I loved receiving compliments from sports fans about my bump music into segments.
Like many of us, the pandemic allowed me to self-reflect and think about what’s important to me, my goals, and how I want to leave my mark. I knew it was the right time to change directions and pursue my childhood dream of covering music, and what better place to start my journey than in Nashville. Jason Moon Wilkins gambled on a sports producer with no music industry experience, but a music aficionado and I was able to be a part of 91-One WNXP Nashville’s Music Experience during launch day in 2020.
Now in 2023, I get to share my passion for music that started as a kid from 6-10 p.m. on WNXP. I get to play four hours of my burnt CDs and classic mixtapes for the city of Nashville and would love to take you through my journey.
