“One of Nashville’s most daring and lyrically gifted composers” composer and impresario Kyle J. Baker makes his OZ Arts debut with fresh works further developing his research into vernacular minimalism. Previous engagements include the Nashville Chamber Music Series and the Nashville Composer Collective.
“Like Brooklyn Rider meets the Roots”
On July 27, he’ll be joined by the musical mercenaries of AVILA SOUL, an alt-classical super group co-founded by Baker and violinist Melanie Joy Alvey.
The quintet were all trained by master teacher Tracy Silverman and are proud to expand the work of Turtle Island String Quartet further into the post-minimalist beat driven 21st Century.
Expect virtuosic grooves, throwback R&B standards by Bill Withers (and others); and fresh compositions by Baker, Alvey, and members of the quintet. The quintet will deliver all with the authenticity and heart of an American soul band.
