When Alice Randall arrived in Nashville in 1983 Music Row street talk predicted "that Black woman from Harvard who wants to write country songs" wouldn't last long. Today Alice Randall is a member of the ASCAP #1 Club with over thirty recorded songs including singles by Trisha Yearwood and Glen Campbell. She wrote a video of the year for Reba McEntire and worked multiple Johnny Cash videos. Professor and Writer-in-Residence at Vanderbilt University, appointed in the Department of African-American studies, her courses include, Black Country and Country Lyric in American Culture. Randall consulted on all the episodes of the PBS documentary Country Music by Ken Burns and appears in the first two. This will be a behind the scenes look at Country Music history that tells a few important stories too wild for PBS.
