In anticipation of Zoe|Juniper’s presentation of Clear and Sweet Sep 14 & 15, which features live and inclusive Sacred Harp Singing, OZ Arts is pleased to announce a Singing School as part of our Artists’ Lounge series.

Sacred Harp Singing is a tradition of social singing in four-part harmony from music books utilizing an early form of notation called shape notes. Sacred Harp originated in the American South in the mid 1800’s, and is a proudly inclusive and democratic practice that encourages diversity in participation as part of our shared cultural heritage.

OZ Arts welcomes choral conductor and Sacred Harp Singer, Justin Bowen, to lead this singing school for anyone in the community who would like to know more about, and try their hand at, Sacred Harp Singing.
