“…the closest thing to a rock star that ballet can currently claim” – New York Times
Renowned for his physically challenging, non-narrative choreography and groundbreaking collaborations across dance, film, music, visual art, technology and science, multi-award-winning British choreographer Wayne McGregor brings his “experimental engine” Wayne McGregor|Random Dance to Nashville with FAR.
Inspired by the controversial Age of Enlightenment, FAR mines an era that first placed the human body into question. Presented to a haunting score by critically-acclaimed composer and Brian Eno collaborator Ben Frost and staged in a mesmerizing environment of shadow and light featuring a computerized, three-dimensional backdrop with more than 3,000 individual light sources, FAR combines cutting edge design with spellbinding movement.
FAR is co-produced by Sadler’s Wells, London, UK and by Peak Performances© Montclair State University, Montclair, USA and is made possible in part by a grant from the Association of Performing Arts Presenters Creative Campus Innovations Grant Program, funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
