Donald R. Hardin, Jr. was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. Currently and for more than 19 years, Don co-owns and manages DON HARDIN GROUP, a construction management firm based in Nashville with and serving Fortune 500 clientele across the country as well as serving community-based organizations.
After graduating from TSU with a degree in the school’s A.B.E.T accredited Architectural Engineering program, Don was recruited by several firms and accepted a position with the Fluor Corporation (Previously Fluor Daniel – Ranked by ENR as the largest Construction Manager when Don was hired). At Fluor, Don took advantage of the opportunities to manage various prime and sub contractors as well as experience in the role as a structural designer on many projects. Don has had the privilege of working on projects on site in the states of New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia, New Mexico, Alabama, South Carolina, Illinois, Kentucky, and Mississippi, prior to returning to Tennessee. Since returning to his native town of Nashville, he has established an excellent reputation in project management and earned the respect of Owners, architects and builders in his quest to execute quality projects. Don has more than 27 years of construction experience and is a licensed general contractor in Tennessee. DON HARDIN GROUP has significantly performed on projects such as the Music City Center (Nashville convention center), First Tennessee Baseball Park, Vanderbilt University Commons, HCA’s national campaign to comply with ADA, and Meharry Medical College’s Turner Family Center to name a few.
He has maintained a core business philosophy in collaboration to achieve much more than any individual could. He has co-founded other successful ventures such as Harmony Construction Group in 2008, which thrives today as an up and coming general contractor in Nashville, and a firm called DASCH which provides project management for the hi-tech industry. Most recently, Don joined forces with 3 of his closest ties to add an entity called Campaign Do Work that will provide creative gear for the workplace and play space alike.
Don Hardin attributes much of his success by first being married to Tracy Kirk Hardin for 29 years. Tracy has supported Don Hardin’s career over the numerous relocations to projects prior to settling back in the Nashville area and she has supported Don Hardin Group in the capacity of Chief Financial Officer for more than 10 years. Tracy holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Fisk University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Western Kentucky University. Don and Tracy have one son, Donald Hardin, III who holds a Bachelors Degree in International Business from Howard University.
Don has been an active volunteer in numerous organizations over years. He has served on the Green Hills (Nashville) YMCA Board, a Commissioner for the Metro Arts Commission, Board of Director for the Y-Build Program, Board of Director for the Nashville Classical Charter School, and Board member for Procurement Standards Board as appointed by Mayor Megan Barry.
