Since I Suppose is a site-responsive theatrical experience based on Shakespeare’s classic urban play, Measure for Measure. The performance is a journey that physically takes the audience through downtown Nashville on a solo pedestrian route. Equipped with a smartphone, headset and custom app, each audience member is assigned a staggered start time and interacts with city inhabitants at downtown locations, from the iconic to the unusual. This is a completely immersive theatrical adventure that navigates places of power, prayer and pleasure through a heightened reality, validating Shakespeare’s relevance 400 years later.
Since I Suppose was created by Australian theater collective one step at a time like this, commissioned by and developed with Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Richard Jordan Productions in association with the City of Melbourne through Arts House. It was performed in Chicago and at the Melbourne International Arts Festival. The piece has been reimagined for Nashville through artist residencies in 2015 & 2016.
“Since I Suppose is a masterpiece in experiential storytelling. It’s the kind of milestone every theater lover should get the chance to witness at least once.”
